Every day, I get emails from people asking me about how to write better content for search engines. They want to know what they can do to make their content “search engine friendly” and often ask if there are any tools that will help them improve the quality of their writing.
This is something I hear a lot because it seems like everyone in online marketing wants to be able to write better copy, but most don’t have time or money to invest in learning SEO best practices. So instead, they try to shortcut this process by using software tools to create content for them.
So today we’re going to take a look at seven different types of AI writing software you might use to improve your writing. We’ll go over some of these programs as well as why you should avoid others.
Grammarly
The first program on our list is Grammarly. This one has been around for years, and I’ve used it myself since my early days in online marketing. It’s quite simple, and basically just checks spelling and grammar. But what I really appreciate about it is that it gives me suggestions on how to fix things before I even hit “submit.”
It also shows me which mistakes are common so I can focus on those first. Another great thing about it is that you can pick up where you left off in other documents, whether that’s an email or blog post, once you close out of the document.
Another nice feature is that you can export all of your work as a PDF and share it with anyone else.
Hemingway App
The next AI software on our list is Hemingway App. This is similar to Grammarly, except that it actually analyze your style. They’ll tell you which parts of your writing sound more conversational or formal, among other things.
So let’s say you want to write an article for your business website, and you want to talk about customer service. You could open up Hemingway App, select the type of writing (i.e., informal) you’d like to use, then click on the green button. The app will show you examples of good vs. bad sentences.
You can do the same thing for other topics, such as product descriptions or case studies.
Once you find a sentence or paragraph that isn’t working, simply click on the “fix” icon and you’ll see suggested alternatives. You can save each change you make, too, so you won’t need to keep re-opening the document to make edits.
The tool will check your usage of proper nouns or pronouns, verb tense, plurals, etc. In short, it proofread your content to make it more high-quality.
One tool will even suggest synonyms for you based on words you already typed. That way, if you accidentally spell something wrong, you won’t have to start over.
If you’re not careful when you’re typing, you can end up repeating yourself many times. If that happens, you might consider using Google Docs, which lets you collaborate with others while editing your files simultaneously.
Jasper
Next, we have Jasper, another piece of software that analyzes your written content. Unlike the previous two programs, however, it doesn’t just give you a score—it explains exactly what areas you need to work on.
For example, if you type “this is a test,” Jasper tells you that there are several problems here. First, it says you’re using the wrong form of “is.” Then it points out that you’re missing a subject pronoun (“something”). And finally, it suggests you add a comma after “test.”
When you read through its analysis, you can see that the problem lies in your lack of usage of punctuation, capitalization, and articles.
This is a good sign–you know what you need to fix! But before you get frustrated by the number of issues, remember that this is only one aspect of your overall writing.
As long as you stay consistent throughout your entire file, you should be fine.
In addition, you can create templates to help you streamline the process. For instance, you might create a template that automatically adds the correct punctuation and capitalization. Or maybe you could create a template that automatically formats your text into bullet points.
What’s cool about these templates is that they’ll even format your text according to industry standards. In other words, if you’re publishing a blog post on a particular topic, you don’t have to worry about formatting your text using italics or boldface.
Poemify
Finally, the last AI writing tool on our list is Poemify. It’s a bit more complex than the rest but still very useful.
Poemify analyzes your text, looking for patterns of words that aren’t natural sounding. For example, it may flag lines like:
I was walking down the street, when suddenly I saw her.
or:
My name is Jane Doe, and I’m a writer.
These are not normal ways to describe what happened. So instead of letting you know that you need to fix this, the app will recommend you try another approach.
For instance, maybe you don’t want to use the third person because you feel it sounds impersonal. Or perhaps you want to emphasize the role she played in the story.
In any event, you can play around with different options until you get the tone right. Once you find a combination that feels right, just go ahead and save it.
And now that you’ve got a basic understanding of these AI copywriting tools, you should be able to take advantage of them whenever you publish content. After all, if you have a clear idea of what works best for your audience, why would you ever settle?
How Much Are AI Writing Tools?
You might think that since an article-writing program is easy to implement, all you’d need is some time and money. Unfortunately, the truth is that most of these products cost between $10-$20 per month.
That said, I do believe that they’re worth every penny. They allow you to focus on creating great content while also giving you feedback on how to improve.
Plus, once you start using these tools regularly, you’ll probably find yourself getting better at writing faster. That means you’ll be able to produce more content and reach more people.
